Door manufacturers strive to make their products cheaper and more affordable for customers. For this purpose, the door leaf is made of fiberboard (MDF), which is covered with a waterproof film. In order to protect the lumber from moisture and improve the appearance of the product, PVC coating and eco-veneer are used.
For a visual comparison of materials, look in the catalog of the Dverka store, which presents both PVC doors and products using eco-veneers.
For a qualitative assessment of the door cover, use 4 basic criteria.
Polyvinyl chloride
PVC film is made from a synthetic polymer - polyvinyl chloride. Useful characteristics of this compound are transferred to the finished product.
- Wear resistance. The material withstands mechanical stress, does not react with acids, alkali, solvents and UV radiation. Therefore, this coating does not fade and you can regularly use cleaning products for washing doors.
- Appearance. There are many film options that differ in color, pattern and surface texture. Thanks to this, you have the opportunity to choose a door for the interior or buy an inexpensive imitation of natural wood canvas.
- Safety. Polyvinyl chloride is responsible fire safety requirements and does not contain harmful substances. The opinion that chloride in the composition of the compound affects a person is mistaken, because plastic PVC windows are now in almost all apartments.
- Price. Canvas coated MDF PVC is an economical option for those who want to buy a durable and inexpensive interior door. Such a model is cheaper than from an ecointerline interval and an array.
Eco-veneer Features
Eco-veneer is a polypropylene film whose color and texture recreate the appearance of natural wood.
- Wear resistance. The density of the material is 946 kg / m3, therefore, the coating of it is highly durable. You can clean the door from eco-veneer with a brush, and your cat will not leave claw marks on it.
- Appearance. On sale you will find many options for eco-veneer, the coloring and surface of which accurately imitate the massif of oak, beech, walnut and other expensive wood species.
- Safety. The coating complies with sanitary standards and fire safety requirements.
- Price. Due to the high degree of aesthetics, eco-veneer is more expensive than PVC film, but at the same time it is a cheaper substitute for natural wood.
What to choose?
Interior doors using these materials are characterized by high wear resistance. Both coatings reliably protect the door leaf from moisture, detergents and mechanical damage. But externally, the eco-veneer better imitates natural wood, which increases the cost of the finished product.
Consider the conditions under which you will operate the door leaf. So, for the bathroom it is better to choose a budget PVC door, and in the living room and bedroom the eco-veneer will look more presentable.
