You loaded the laundry into the drum, trying to slam the door, but it does not close? What happened: the lock does not work or the latch does not fall into the loop? There may be several reasons: from commonplace failures to breakdowns requiring repair.
If your washing machine does not close the door, run a self-diagnosis and troubleshoot.
Reasons for malfunction
Why does the hatch door not snap? The reasons are conditionally divided into two categories: mechanical and electronic.
With mechanical problems you can’t close the door at all, it just won’t lock. This happens because:
- The plastic guide has broken or worn out. This is a typical failure for the Kandy and Indesit brand washing machines. Therefore, when choosing a machine, it is recommended to watch that the guide is metal. In this case, the guide is not fixed in the lock hole, it will need to be replaced.
- The door hinges are skewed. Then the locking tab does not reach the hole and cannot tightly latch the hatch door. All that is needed is to tighten the screws that secure the hinges with a screwdriver.
- The tongue hook has shifted. This leads to a similar problem, only the cause is now not in loops. To tighten the tongue, you have to disassemble the door handle.
If there are problems with electronic locking, then mechanically the hatch will close normally. But you will not hear a characteristic click, water will not be poured into the tank.
In case of such breakdowns, an error is displayed on the display that the door is not closed.
Why the lock does not turn on:
- UBL lock broke. After the hatch is latched with a tongue-hook, the hatch lock device is activated. The blocker sends a signal to the electronic module, which opens the valves for water intake. If the UBL does not work, then washing is not possible.
- There is debris in the electronic lock slot. Perhaps some kind of small rubbish clogged, so the lock does not work.
- If the door normally locks, but the program does not start, the reason is in the control module, which “does not see” the closed door.
How to fix the situation
If the door does not close properly, and after inspection you find that the tongue or the guide is skewed, you need to replace it.
- Unplug the washing machine.
- Using a screwdriver, unscrew the hinge screws and remove the door from the housing.
- Putting the door on a flat surface, start disassembling. First you need to buy a repair kit for your model. Most likely, you will have to buy a completely pen, which includes a tongue.
- Remove the screws around the perimeter, release the latches and remove the inside of the door.
- Before disassembling the handle, photograph the location of the parts.
- Push and pull out the pin, after which nothing will hold the part.
- Reassemble the handle in the reverse order by installing a new tab.
What to do if it is written on the AGR display that the door is not closed? So, the electronic lock does not work. The indicators may flash on the mechanical panels. It is necessary to replace the UBL device.
- Open the hatch door and unscrew the two bolts securing the device.
- Bend the sealing rubber.
- Remove the clamp and thread the cuff inside the drum.
- Take out the UBL device, disconnect the wiring from it.
Inspect the wiring. If burnt parts are visible, it must be replaced. UBL is checked with a multimeter for resistance. If the lock is defective, replace it in the reverse order.
How to solve problems with the electronic module
You sorted out the lock of the washing machine, examined it, and found no damage. How to determine the cause of a malfunction in a module:
- The door locks but does not erase.
- The lock indicator does not light up on the display.
If any element or triac of the module burns out, then any part of the washing machine may fail. For example, the UBL may work properly, but the control unit does not recognize its signals. Either the triac of the filling valve is faulty, so the water intake does not start.
Carefully inspect the board and its wiring at the time of burning. Consider how to get to the module, but it is not recommended to repair it yourself.
- After disconnecting the AGR from power, remove the top cover from the housing.
- Remove the dispensing tray by pressing the latch in the center.
- Remove the screws holding the control panel.
- Unclench latches and disconnect the panel from the case.
- When disconnecting the wiring, inspect it for damage.
- To remove the board from the panel, you must also press the latches.
If you do not see any signs of damage, take the board to a service center. They will conduct professional diagnostics and repairs.
As you can see, some breakdowns can be fixed independently. But there are situations when you cannot do without a master - do not take risks and entrust complex repairs to specialists.
