A croaker is a waste, part of a tree trunk when sawing logs. When processing a bar or board, the workpiece is cut from four sides, a rectangular section is obtained. The material on the one hand preserves the natural surface of the tree, and on the other hand has a plane saw cut. It finds application in many areas of production activity.
Varieties of lumber
Sawn material waste comes in two grades:
- Business.
- Wood burning.
Timber has a thickness of at least 35 mm. Of it make designs of various shapes. Lumber is unprocessed - with bark. To clad building structures, a tree peeled from bark is used.
Firewood is being processed. Some boards are used as firewood. Chips are made of it. Briquettes are made from wood chips for kindling furnaces and boilers. Sprinkle wood paths in the garden, strengthen the soil base in greenhouses and greenhouses. Firewood is shown in the bottom photo.
How to produce
Lumber waste is obtained as a result of processing tree trunks. In industrial conditions, logs are sawn on complex machine tools with four saw blades. Numerical program control is configured so that log cuts are obtained simultaneously from four sides. The desired slab thickness and maximum cut length are set.
There are two-sided planers. First, two opposite sides of the trunk are processed, then the workpiece is rotated 90 ° along the longitudinal axis and the separation of the outer layer of the tree continues.
The distribution network has different types of sawing machines for large workshops. It is advantageous to keep the equipment for work in a private household.
Kinds
The value of business lumber waste depends on the type of wood being processed. For example, birch, spruce, aspen boards are used in construction as an auxiliary material.
Products from larch, oak and other valuable species of wood are expensive. Such raw materials belong to the highest category. It is used as a finishing material.
Application
Business lumber is used as building timber for the manufacture of:
- fences and fences;
- registration of personal buildings;
- formwork;
- roofing;
- pallets;
- garden furniture;
- arbors;
- designer furniture in the loft style;
- cladding of walling;
- lining;
- crafts.
Fences and barriers
Fences and fencing from wood waste give private owners significant savings. Timber does not require special conditions in storage and construction. The croaker is nailed in an upright position to the transverse rails between the support posts. It is placed horizontally, filling the openings between the racks. The croaker, cleaned of bark, is impregnated with antiseptics and coated with varnish or stain.
Low fences define the boundaries of land sown with different cultures. Boards can be dug into the ground, having previously wrapped their lower part with roofing material or roofing felt. Such a fence can last a long time.
Formwork
Lumber waste is advantageously used as formwork. You can make it for small monolithic constructions of the foundation from slabs very quickly. For the manufacture of fencing for liquid concrete, wood lumber is suitable. The removed formwork is used as fuel for kindling stoves, boilers and fireplaces.
Roof
Support structures made of slab under the roof sheathing board significantly reduces the cost of construction. The bearing capacity of such a roof is in no way inferior to structures from factory-made profiles.
Pallets
The horizontal planes of pallets made of slabs are connected by pieces of timber and nailed. In industrial production, such boards are not used. Pallets are made for the needs of a private household in their workshops. It is convenient to store building materials on them, barrels with pickling.
Country furniture
The backs and seats of garden benches are covered with material without bark. To protect the tree from the effects of the atmosphere, it is varnished for outdoor use.
From the waste wood, the bases are knocked together under a sleeping mattress, bedside tables are made. At the cottage of the boards arrange interior partitions.
Arbors and canopies from croaker
Arbors and canopies sheathed outside and inside with a croaker have an original, exotic look. The frame of the structure is a rectangular structure, the main element of which is the slab. In order for the structure to have rigidity, boards with a thickness of at least 40 mm are used. The frame of the gazebo is sheathed with a croaker - it does not carry the main load.
The roof of the gazebo is covered with a croaker. Although this is not necessary, traditional roofing materials are usually used.
Designer furniture in loft style
Recently, the loft style in interior design has become popular. Fashionable trends touched furniture. Worktops are best made from oak planks or larch. You can use lumber from other species of wood.
Selected wood with a uniform profile. Remove the bark, sand and varnish. Strongly protruding knots cut. The gaps between the boards and uneven surfaces are filled with epoxy mixed with fluorescent powder. A luminous table will decorate the veranda, summer kitchen or living room.
Cladding of building envelopes
Finishing walls and ceilings with a slab of fine wood creates an atmosphere of proximity to nature inside both residential and public buildings. On the planes of the fencing, a crate of timber or battens is arranged. The choice of the profile of the crate depends on the thickness of the slab. The boards are nailed with small cloves, driving them into the edges.
The walls and ceilings in rooms with a high level of humidity (baths, saunas) are trimmed with cleaned boards. Walls covered with coniferous boards (pine, spruce) constantly spread the aroma of resin, which acts like a disinfectant.
Lining
Lining from croaker is made with your own hands quite rarely. It all depends on the quality factor of the source material. The thicker the boards, the more chances to make a quality lining. The cross-sectional height of the wood should allow sawing raw materials so that grooves, spikes with a thickness and width of at least 10 mm are obtained. Otherwise, the wall cladding will be fragile and unreliable.
Clapboard lining the surfaces of walls and ceilings in the steam room of the bath. Products are lined with premises both inside houses and facades outside. They fix the boards on a wooden crate with clammers or nail them.
Crafts
Among the sawmill waste, there are always short lengths of croaker. From them you can cut crafts.
Various openings in indoor fences are framed with a curly crochet. A hanger looks beautiful on the wall, the base of which consists of a row of croaker with hooks for clothes.
Waste lumber from valuable species of wood is used by craftsmen for the manufacture of various souvenir products.
Benefits
Advantages of croaker are as follows:
- The cheapest lumber. Its use as load-bearing elements brings significant cost savings in the construction of lightweight buildings.
- The low weight of the boards during the construction of small objects allows you to create cheap foundation foundations.
- Lining with a croaker does not need additional finishing of building structures. Walls covered with decorative wood carry an aesthetic load.
- The barked surfaces are varnished or painted, which makes the furniture particularly attractive.
- Simplicity in the installation of lumber does not cause difficulties when carrying out facing works.
- Wood waste is widely used in the manufacture of various products - from parquet to the design of accent walls.
- The use of commercial wood as lining will avoid unnecessary costs for the acquisition of a factory profile.
